OT for Kids are running a training event for all Occupational Therapists who are looking to improve their understanding of handwriting development. We are a private OT company who deliver children's Occupational Therapy that produces positive results for every child, parent teacher and school that accesses our services.
OT for Kids two day handwriting course provides a detailed and interesting overview of handwriting development in children aged 0-15 years old.

Improve your understanding of the assessment, treatment and development of handwriting - 2 days
OT for Kids two day handwriting course provides a detailed and interesting overview of handwriting development in children aged 0-15 years old.
Learning objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Have a good understanding of the necessary underlying components of writing
- Be able to identify a child's pencil grip
- Understand how pencil grip and posture impact upon handwriting
- Identify and correctly apply pencil grips, adaptive pens and sloped writing boards to improve writing
- Have a good understanding of the key components of:
- Visual perception skills
- Visual closure
- Form recognition and form constancy
- Hand strength
- Fine motor skills
- Have a good understanding and clinical justification for the use of the following assessments:
- Beery VMI
- Test of Visual Perception Skills
- Movement ABC
- Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting (DASH)
- Have a good understanding of the activities and worksheets and link these to the underlying skill
- Individual activities
- Group activities
